Levada das 25 Fontes Walk
3.5 hoursModerateMax 8

Levada das 25 Fontes Walk

Madeira's most iconic levada walk, through ancient laurisilva forest to the 25 Fountains waterfall. 6km round trip, mostly flat — moderate pace, big reward. The trail lunch box is all local: broa bread, queijo fresco, dried figs from the Madeiran highlands, and a slice of honey cake. Includes hotel pickup and botanist commentary from your guide.

Pico do Arieiro Sunrise Hike
5 hoursChallengingMax 6

Pico do Arieiro Sunrise Hike

Pre-dawn departure to Madeira's third-highest peak (1818m) for sunrise above the clouds. Rocky terrain, steep in places — this one earns its views. The descent ends at a village padaria open since 4am: hot pastéis de nata and galão before the drive back to Funchal.

Santana & North Coast Discovery
6 hoursEasy–ModerateMax 8

Santana & North Coast Discovery

A full sweep of Madeira's quieter north, built around the food and drink the north is quietly famous for. Thatched palhoeiro houses in Santana, the cliffs at São Roque do Faial — then lunch: espetada the way it's meant to be eaten, beef skewered on laurel wood over open coals at a hillside adega that doesn't advertise. Poncha made from cane spirit distilled on-site, not a supermarket bottle. Queijo da Serra and bolo do caco warm from the bakery on the way home.

Madeira Wine & Harvest Experience

Madeira Wine & Harvest Experience

The most food-forward afternoon we offer. Private access to a family quinta in Câmara de Lobos — hillside terraces producing wine since the 15th century, still farmed by the same family. Taste five vintages with a proper pairing: house-cured charcuterie, three kinds of queijo da ilha, and bolo do caco fresh from the stone. The visit ends at the family table, not a tasting counter. An optional light supper at a nearby adega — espetada and vinho verde — is included for groups who wish to stay on.

Jeep Safari: Smuggler's Paths
7 hoursEasyMax 7

Jeep Safari: Smuggler's Paths

Full-day 4x4 into the central mountains along old trade routes that once moved sugar, wine, and contraband between the coast and the interior. Hidden viewpoints, a levada section on foot, and in summer — a natural waterfall pool. Lunch is a proper hillside picnic: queijo fresco, chouriço, broa bread, and local honey gathered near the trail. In autumn the route passes through vineyards mid-harvest.

Funchal Old Town & Market Morning
3 hoursEasyMax 8

Funchal Old Town & Market Morning

Madeira's food culture in three hours. Mercado dos Lavradores at dawn: the lower hall is the fish market where black scabbardfish and tuna come in off overnight boats. Your guide walks you through each stall — passion fruit from the Madeiran highlands, preserved chestnuts, the flower women in embroidered aprons who have held the same pitches for decades. From the market through the painted tile walls of the Zona Velha, up to Monte by cable car — then espetada at a Funchal restaurant the locals have eaten at for thirty years. The best possible orientation for the rest of your stay.
