Funchal, Madeira
The guide who
grew up here.
Max 8 people. Always.
Ana-Maria grew up in Funchal. She knows where the espetada is best, which quinta pours its oldest vintage for the right guest, and which levada path ends at a waterfall lunch spot no one else finds. On these tours, you get a local — not a hired guide who read the route last week.

Who leads your tour
Ana-Maria has walked
every levada —
and every table worth sitting at.
Four generations of her family have lived in Funchal. She knows which levada is worth the early start, which viewpoint the buses never find, and which village bar makes poncha from cane spirit, not a bottle. RNAAT licensed guide (n.º 970/2024).
When we say max 8 people, it's because a group of 8 is a conversation. A group of 40 is a logistics problem. On every tour, you get a guide who can change the route if the weather shifts, stop at the quinta that wasn't on the schedule, and actually answer your questions.
What guests say
In their own words
"Ana-Maria spent 20 minutes explaining the difference between native and invasive plants on the levada. I've never left a hike knowing so much."
"We were a group of 4 and it genuinely felt private. The Pico do Arieiro sunrise was one of the best things we've ever done on holiday."
"My mum is 68 and not a hiker. The Santana tour was perfect — beautiful and totally manageable. The espetada lunch alone was worth it."
