FAQ
Questions we get a lot
What should I wear?
For levada walks and hikes: proper walking boots (not trainers — the paths can be slippery). A waterproof layer even in summer, especially for the higher routes. Comfortable layers; mountain temperatures are 5–10°C cooler than Funchal. For the wine experience and town walks: whatever you'd wear for a day out.
How fit do I need to be?
It depends on the tour — we're honest about this on every listing. The Funchal Old Town Morning and Santana Discovery are gentle. The Pico do Arieiro Sunrise Hike is genuinely challenging and not suitable for knee problems or anyone uncomfortable with exposed rocky paths. The description tells you the elevation change and rough pace. If you're unsure, ask us.
What's your cancellation policy?
Full refund with 48+ hours notice. If we cancel due to weather or conditions, you get a full refund or a free reschedule — your choice. We don't take risks with safety.
Can I book a private group?
Yes. Most of our tours can be run privately for your group. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and size — we quote within a few hours.
Do you cater to infants or very young children?
For most levada walks and hikes, no — the terrain isn't pram-friendly and some sections are genuinely unsafe for small children. The Funchal Old Town Morning and Santana tours can work for older kids (7+). Ask us before booking and we'll be straight with you.
Is WhatsApp really the best way to book?
For most people, yes — it's fast, we respond quickly, and it means you're talking to a person rather than a booking engine. If you prefer, the contact form on our site works fine too. We respond to all enquiries within a few hours during business hours (sometimes faster).
